At HandyScoot Australia, we want you to be completely satisfied with your portable mobility scooter purchase. We understand that choosing the right mobility solution is important, which is why we offer both a comprehensive return policy and full compliance with Australian Consumer Law.

14-Day Return Policy (Change of Mind)

Return Window

You may return your HandyScoot lightweight mobility scooter within 14 days of delivery if it doesn’t meet your needs, provided it meets our return conditions below.

Return Conditions – “As New” Standard

Your foldable mobility scooter must be returned in “as new” condition, which means:

Physical Condition:

• ✅ No marks of use on the tyres
• ✅ No scratches to the body or frame
• ✅ No marks or permanent deformities to seat padding or backrest
• ✅ No marks to accessories, brackets, or baskets
• ✅ No damage to control panel or wiring
• ✅ Battery in original condition with no charging cycles beyond initial testing

Packaging Requirements:

• ✅ Original box and all packaging materials
• ✅ All components included (seat, battery, charger, basket, accessories)
• ✅ Original receipt or proof of purchase
• ✅ All documentation (user manual, warranty cards, etc.)

Return Authorization Process

Step 1: Request Authorization Email us at info@handyscoot.com.au with:

• Your order number and purchase date
• Reason for return
• 6 digital photos showing:
  • Scooter tyres (to verify no wear marks)
  • Scooter body and frame condition
  • Seat and backrest condition
  • Original packaging and box
  • All components laid out
  • Scooter packed and tied down as it was originally sent

Step 2: Authorization Review

• We’ll review your request within 3 business days
• If approved, we’ll provide return instructions and authorization number
• If conditions aren’t met, we’ll discuss options with you

Step 3: Return Shipping

• You’re responsible for return shipping costs
• Package securely to prevent damage during transport
• Use trackable shipping method
• Include authorization number with return

Return Fees

• Restocking Fee: 25% of purchase price
• Return Shipping: Customer responsibility
• Packaging Damage: Customer liable for any damage due to improper packing

Refund Processing

• Refunds processed within 5-7 business days after receiving and inspecting returned item
• Refund amount = Purchase Price – 25% Restocking Fee – Any Damage Costs
• Refunds issued to original payment method

Australian Consumer Law Rights

This return policy doesn’t affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law for faulty products or major failures.

Items That Cannot Be Returned Under Our 14-Day Policy

This section applies to change-of-mind returns. Faulty products are always covered under warranty and Australian Consumer Law.

Please note: Your HandyScoot portable mobility scooter cannot be returned under our 14-day change-of-mind return policy if it shows any of the following conditions:

Normal Wear and Tear

• Scratches from regular use
• Battery capacity reduction from normal charging
• Tyre wear from driving
• Seat compression from use

Damage from Misuse

• Water damage
• Impact damage from crashes or drops
• Modifications or repairs by unauthorized service providers
• Use beyond weight capacity (over 158kg)

Missing Components

• Lost accessories or parts
• Damaged or discarded packaging
• Missing documentation

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I return my HandyScoot portable mobility scooter after 14 days?

After 14 days, returns are only accepted for warranty claims or consumer law violations (faulty products). Change of mind returns must be within 14 days.

What if I’ve only used it once?

Even single use may show wear marks on tyres or seats. Each return is assessed individually based on the “as new” criteria listed above.

Can I return accessories separately?

Accessories purchased with the mobility scooter must be returned together as a complete package. Individual accessory returns may be considered case-by-case.

What about delivery costs?

Original delivery costs are non-refundable. You pay for return shipping. If the scooter is faulty, we cover all shipping costs.

How long does the refund take?

5-7 business days after we receive and inspect your returned lightweight mobility scooter.
